Pallet rack primarily consists of four styles of rack: 1. Selective rack. 2. Drive-In rack. 3. Push back rack. 4. Pallet Flow rack.
The conventional pallet racking system is the best solution for warehouses that need to store palletized products with a wide range of SKUs. Selective pallet rack consists of upright frames and beams and is offered in styles that include Teadrop, New Style Interlake, Ridg-U-Rak, Keystone, Sturdi-bilt, Speedrack, Structural Steel pallet rack and others.
Selective Pallet Rack Advantages
- Each pallet and SKU can be accessed directly.
- Easy to control stock.
- Adaptable to any volume, weight or size of merchandise.
In order to store a large number of pallets, double-depth pallet racks can be installed enabling one pallet to be placed in front of another on each side of the aisle.
Conventional pallet racking can also be used in the construction of clad-rack warehouses, whose most striking characteristic is that they do not require the existence of a building prior to construction.

 Drive-in Pallet Rack |
|
Drive-in racking is ideal for homogeneous products with low levels of turnover and a high number of pallets per article type. This pallet rack system offers the highest use of available space in terms of both area and height. Drive in rack is a high density rack system that is offered in both rollformed and structural steel.
Drive-in Pallet Rack Advantages
- Maximum use of available space (85%).
- Elimination of aisles between the racking.
- Rigorous entrance and exit control.
Drive-in pallet racking can generally accommodate as many article types as there are loading aisles.
Two management systems are available: the drive-in system, with only one access aisle, and the drive-through system, with access to the load from both sides of the rack.
The rack system is frequently used in cold stores (refrigeration and freezing) which require maximum use of space for the storage of products in a controlled temperature.
Drive-in pallet racks can also be used in construction of clad-rack buildings whose most striking feature is that they do not require the existence of a building prior to construction.

An accumulative storage system that allows up to four pallets deep to be stored per level. Push-back pallet rack is ideal for storing medium-turnover products, with two or more pallets per SKU. Push back rack is a high density, high efficiency storage rack that utilizes a low profile cart and rail system.
Push-back Pallet Rack Advantages
- Saves space.
- High storage density.
- Loading and unloading carried out in a central aisle.
All of the pallets of each level, except the top one, are placed on a set of low profile carts with wheels that are attached to rails that go into the rack system. These rails are built on a slight incline, lower at the front, so that the pallets at the back move forward when the pallet closest to the aisle is removed. All pallets are picked from the aisle for time savings on every pick!

 Pallet Flow Rack |
|
Live racking is fitted with a slightly-inclined gravity flow rails which allows the pallets to slide down to the other side at a controlled pace thanks to gravity. Pallet flow rack is the ultimate in FIFO (First in, First out) storage and offers both pallet density and pallet handling efficiency.
Pallet Flow Rack Advantages
- Enables perfect pallet turnover (FIFO SYSTEM).
- Maximum capacity as storage system is compact.
- Time and space saved in pallet handling.
This is an ideal pallet rack system for warehouses storing perishable goods, although it can also be used in any industry or distribution business (food, car and pharmaceutical industries, chemicals, etc.). This system is the most expensive of the pallet rack systems because it offers the greatest density and efficiency while also offering FIFO. This sytem requires high quality pallets of a consistent size unless we upgrade the pallet flow rails to full length rollers which allow for greater flexibility in pallet size.
